Edelweiss
The song “Edelweiss” inspired this painting. As the Chattanooga Girls Choir's 'signature' song, all ages from the youngest choir members to the oldest alumni unite as hands are joined and voices are raised during the finale of each season's closing concert. It is a song concluding another year and welcoming the next. Singing this song with the choir, for me, is a time to reflect on lessons learned and friendships gained from the previous year, as I look forward to the next. For its simplicity and the sense of unity this song creates, I chose to illustrate it with this single flower.
“Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow, bloom and grow forever.” -Oscar Hammerstein, Edelweiss Acrylics on Canvas May 11, 2016 |
